The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is a national leader in detecting emerging infectious diseases and is poised to identify the next pandemic threat before it spreads. However, MSU lacks sufficient biosafety level-3 (BSL-3) research facilities, which limits our ability to develop diagnostics, treatments, and vaccines for high-consequence diseases. With support for endowed positions in infectious disease research, MSU can position itself as a magnet institution for talented students and faculty in this discipline and increase our competitiveness for federal and private grant funding.

Goal: $25 million
